Make Yourself Known
What does heaven look like?
A few weeks ago my church wrapped up going over the book of Revelation. It is my belief that the Bible was written and composed as a means to keep everyone in line. A scare-tactic. A guide for life. Heaven is just a concept designed to take the fear of death away. However, for the purpose of this topic, if heaven is real, I wanted to have a discussion about it.
There are “descriptions” of what heaven may look like and I thought it would be interesting to get everyone’s take on what they thought heaven would be like. We tend to have a lot of serious topics and I wanted to have a less serious conversation about heaven (I understand that if you are a Christian, heaven is serious business, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun). I’ve heard that it’s impossible to imagine what heaven will be like or look like. That doesn’t mean we can’t try right? We discussed things like what does heaven look like, what do people do in heaven, and it even got a little explicit when we were discussing marriage and sex in heaven.
Creating us because He loves us?
If you listen to our conversation, you can tell that the concept of heaven is lost on me. We are placed on this earth to worship God and then we die and go to heaven to worship God some more (for eternity!)? This all the more confirms my opinions that God created us just so that he had something that worships him. That makes no sense to me. If he loves us why didn’t he just create Heaven and let everyone be there instead of having to live on earth first, stand the test of life, and then go to heaven. It’s like some sick twisted game. The best worshipers and followers of Christ go to heaven and the bad ones get sent to hell. Oh, you are a small child and you died of cancer, sorry, you go to hell. You are an indigenous tribe in the middle of the amazon and have never seen the light of day, sorry, you go to hell. You follow a different religion, sorry, you go to hell.
I can’t accept any of that.
Free will, choice, love, blah blah blah. No. Just no.
If you are going to deny people into heaven because they don’t know you, then make yourself known! Your so called “followers” aren’t doing the job, so maybe you (God) need to do it yourself.
