When I dwell on those parts of my past I’m not as proud of, I myself have questioned if I have a right to follow Jesus and call myself a Christian. But then I remember who He kept company with

In #ec1dot01, we discuss being “qualified” to follow Jesus and how some churches almost require a “resume” to attend. Above is my resume and on the surface I may appeared “qualified”. But just like in the business world, it is easy to put your best foot forward and only show people what you want them to see. Some call it “putting on your Sunday best”. What isn’t written above are all of the reasons some may find me “disqualified” to follow Jesus: liar, gossip, cheater, thief. When I dwell on those parts of my past I’m not as proud of, I myself have questioned if I have a right to follow Jesus and call myself a Christian. But then I remember who He kept company with, I remember the long list of people we now call “Saints” in Hebrews 11 and I am once again amazed by God’s love, grace, and mercy.

At the end of the day, God isn’t looking at my resume or what I’ve left off of it; He is only concerned with my reference: Jesus.
