These are core priniciples of Empty Church.
Opting in is saying yes and folowing through on the committment to follow Jesus.
There is a misconception in Christianity that you once you start following Jesus that there is little action involved. Just show up on Sunday, sing a few songs, plunk a couple coins in the offering plate and you've done all you are supposed to do.
Frankly anyone can do that - you don't even need to follow Jesus to accomplish those tasks! Opting in is an agreement to obey what Jesus tells you to do. His instructions come to you through the Bible and the guiding of the Holy Spirit.
Sometimes the instructions are not glamorous and they almost always take you away from your present level of personal comfort. Often times it involves sacrificing some personal affluence. It will always involve the process of making you more like Jesus. This is the real reward of Christianity. You won't be allowed to stay the same. You will be transformed.
But you need to opt in to the process. You have the choice to receive the instructions and decline to follow them. Declining to follow Jesus results in hollow religiousity, at best, or, at worst, a continuing spiral into the dire consequences of your sin.
Opting in brings transformational life. Choose to opt in.
