Prayer of the Trapped Man - As Seen on Sunday

Prayer of the Trapped Man - As Seen on Sunday

#VOTW

When my life was fainting away,
I remembered the LORD,
and my prayer came to you,
into your holy temple.
— Jonah 2:7

Confession

Trapped

Lord, I'm trapped.

I fled your presence and my sin has left me with no place to go.

You asked me to do something. I refused.

I ran away.

I am trapped.

Forgive me, Lord. Rescue me from my sin and myself.

Free me from this trap.

Amen.

Sermon Recap

When you run from God you end up at a dead end, or quite possibly in the middle of a giant fish's digestive tract. The simple truth of the matter is this: every day we run away from what God asks us to do. We choose to follow our own desires rather than submit to God's command.

Inevitably this leads us to a place where we are trapped. But what if that trap was a trap of God's grace? What we are able to learn about God, ourselves, and our world while being trapped is the focus of this week's As Seen on Sunday.
