Judas was the ultimate betrayer of Jesus.
Jesus knew that Judas was going to betray him before he was even asked and chosen to be a disciple, so why was Judas allowed to follow Jesus?
I think the fact that Jesus picked specific people from specific backgrounds to be disciples shows that anyone is allowed to follow Jesus, even betrayers like Judas. Jesus knew what was going to go down and even mentioned to everyone that someone was going to betray Him and just went along with it. Perhaps this was all part of the plan for Jesus to give his life. Perhaps Judas was the way for Jesus to die. Perhaps it was all part of Gods plan.
All of the disciples, not just Judas, were flawed and handpicked by Jesus. Even all of us at Empty Church are flawed, even Sean, and the last few weeks of learning about the disciples has helped me understand that I don't have to be perfect to be a follower of Jesus.
As we come to a close on reading, writing, and learning about the disciples in this series it becomes clear that no matter how flawed of a person we are, Jesus will still love us.
