#ec1dot13 - The Jesus Gym: Spot Me, Bro! Never work out alone
"Let’s hang out."
This phrase can can illicit the possibilities of joy in some and dreaded numbness in others. But Following Jesus is best done together - in a community. Let me rephrase that - following Jesus is best done in a messy community. And the mess of meeting together is today’s topic on Another Empty Conversation.
The time has arrived for Another Empty Conversation - a show that lets you eavesdrop on a conversation about faith and following Jesus. We talk about our faith so you can talk about yours.
Last week we discussed pumping up our prayer life and this week we turn our attention to the spiritual discipline of meeting together. While It seems easy for some, it may be the most difficult thing to do for us introverts.
Just like every other discussion in this series, we use a SWOT analysis to help us talk through these spiritual workouts. We talk through the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that are involved in setting up a plan to get the most out of our times of community and fellowship.
Christians meet together. And to rip off an insurance commercial, Its what we do. Whether it is attending large worship services on Sunday or small groups meetings throughout the week, you and I need each other. There are many things that can go wrong, but they are outweighed by the many things that can go right.
I'll close with the words of the author of Hebrews: Don’t refuse to meet together as some people regularly choose to do. Instead encourage each other - even more so as you see the Day approaching.
