#ec1dot43 - The Holy Spirit is More than a DJ

Hey, Holy Spirit turn up the anointing so we can dance!

The attitude, more than the words, might just perfectly sum up the experience of the Holy Spirit in the lives of some believers.

While others hold a functional view that the Bible is of greater importance than the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church

Some have suggested that the Holy Spirit is the forgotten God, I just think it is all just a big mess of misunderstanding.

Misunderstandings need conversations to bring clarity.

Sit down, tune in, and turn it up because we are talking about the Holy Spirit on this week’s episode of Another Empty Conversation

The time has arrived for Another Empty Conversation -  a show that lets you eavesdrop on a conversation about faith and following Jesus. We talk about our faith so you can talk about yours.

Welcome to Empty Conversation episode 1dot43 and the latest episode in our series on the Bones of our Belief. Our previous episodes talked about God and his role in the universe and Jesus as Messiah and redeeming Savior.

This week we turn our attention to the Holy Spirit. Some say his biggest claim to fame is that he is like a DJ that pumps up the jams during the altar call and lights up the dance floor with people falling out and catching the Holy Ghost.

He is also known for resurrecting Jesus from the dead, inspiring the authorship of the Scriptures, giving people the ability to speak in unknown tongues, and providing gifts and fruits.

It’s my opinion that the Holy Spirit is the most overlooked and misunderstood God of the Trinity. And while this episode may not bring 100% clarity, it will certainly help us begin a continuing discussion on the role of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers.

Shifting gears a little bit: Real spiritual formation takes engaging your faith on the six days between Sundays. Even a little bit of reading every day is better than nothing at all. Every day the EC crew publishes a new blog, creates an inspirational Instagram, or shares a something that will help you think about your faith in a deeper way.

Take advantage and Make sure you don’t miss out on the anything that Empty Church has to offer. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Tumblr so you won’t miss a single opportunity for growing in your faith.

I think that is enough self-promotion. Let’s get to the good stuff

Now its time to leave you a preview so you too can review what we do as we jump into Another Empty Conversation

I had a professor tells us that once you put God in a box he simply ceases to become God. The controlling nature of our lives incessantly attempts to put the Holy Spirit in a box. We focus on just the aspects that we like or make us feel good or the parts that are easy to understand.

The problem is that when we choose to isolate the Holy Spirit to just a certain set of traits he ceases, at least to us, to be God. The wonder of the Godhead gets lost on us and then our worship will seem flat. The lessons we learn about pigeon-holing the Holy Spirit should be applied to the entirety that is God. Our worship will be even more meaningful if we do so.
