#ec1dot46 - the BYOB Church - (REBROADCAST)
Jesus turning water into wine may not be be the best excuse for a Christian to go out and drunk, but it is often used as a reason that alcohol consumption is an approved pastime for many followers of Jesus.
The holiness movement of the early 20th century pumped the brakes on drinking booze but started a big schism in the people of God.
In this episode of Another Empty Conversation we look back to our conversation about alcohol, the church, and some other chemical addictions.
Issue arise when Sean asks why its ok to be addicted to coffee and caffeine but not alcohol. Kristal talks about how her choices regarding alcohol stem from what she witnessed while growing up. Sarah also recounts the prominence of alcohol at every family get-together and how it affected her family.
This is a winding conversation that takes us in and out of the Bible, culture, psychology, and philosophy. It is a timely conversation and what that -while it started here in this podcast - is continued almost every time we get together.
Next week we will begin a new series on a Conversation between Church and State - every Wednesday between now and the US presidential election we will be talking about political issues that matter to us as millennial Christians and try to understand what the Bible really has to say about the issues at hand. You will not want to miss a single episode in during the next 7 weeks.
